Regulatory Board
Unique to District of Columbia: The District of Columbia is unique in requiring all producer applicants to provide proof of a $100,000 surety bond AND a $1,000,000 E&O (Errors & Omissions) insurance policy—a requirement virtually no state imposes. DC also has different application fees for different lines ($100 P&C, $105 Life) and different fingerprint fees ($31.50 P&C, $50 Life). DC uses Fieldprint for fingerprinting rather than standard vendors. The bond and E&O requirements significantly increase the cost of doing business in DC.
