Louisiana participates in NIPR and has reciprocity arrangements with most states. Non-resident producers who have satisfied CE requirements in their home state are deemed compliant with Louisiana requirements. Non-residents must submit a letter of certification with renewal applications.

24 hours of CE per 2-year renewal cycle including 3 hours of ethics. Effective August 2025, Louisiana will begin requiring 2 hours of legislative updates (applicable to renewals on or after July 31, 2027). Non-residents who meet home state CE requirements are deemed compliant.
Regulatory Board
Unique to Louisiana: Louisiana does not require pre-licensing education, making it one of the easier states to enter. The state requires two forms of government-issued ID at the exam (most states only require one). Individual line exam fees vary significantly ($30 for Health & Accident, $38 for Life, $53 for combined). Louisiana is also adding a legislative updates CE requirement starting in 2027.
