Unique to Alaska: Alaska is one of the most expensive states for insurance producer licensing. At $89 per exam (with separate exams required per line) and a $75 application/renewal fee, the total costs add up quickly. Alaska uniquely uses mail-in FBI FD 258 fingerprint cards rather than electronic Livescan, which can slow the process. The renewal fee of $75 is per line of authority, unlike most states that charge a flat renewal fee.
