IndianaLicensed Massage Therapist Requirements

Indiana has one of the highest liability insurance requirements in the nation for massage therapists ($2M per claim/$6M aggregate) and uses a 4-year renewal cycle rather than the more common 2-year cycle. The application fee is $100. Licenses renew every 4 years (expires May 15 of every fourth year — 2025, 2029, 2033). 24 hours of continuing education are required per renewal cycle. 625 hours of pre-licensing education are required. Neighboring states include Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, each with their own massage therapist requirements.

Indiana requires professional liability insurance: $2,000,000 per claim and $6,000,000 aggregate.

Licenses expire every 4 years on May 15.
