Important: A license alone does not allow you to sell insurance
After obtaining your license, you must be appointed by at least one insurance company to sell their products. The carrier files the appointment with OCI.
Appointment fee: Paid by carrier
Georgia participates in NIPR for non-resident licensing. Non-residents who fulfill CE requirements in their home state and whose home state reciprocates with Georgia are exempt from Georgia CE requirements. Non-residents who fail to meet these criteria must complete Georgia's CE requirements.
Additional requirements: Must hold active license in good standing in home state. CE reciprocity available if home state reciprocates.

CE Required
24 hours per cycle
Ethics Hours
3 hours (included in CE total)

Regulatory Board
Unique to Georgia: Georgia requires a citizenship affidavit (Form GID-276-EN) with every license application, which is unusual. The state uses 'Accident & Sickness' terminology rather than 'Health'. CE requirements decrease from 24 to 20 hours after 20 years of licensure. The governing body is uniquely named the 'Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire' (OCI). Non-resident CE reciprocity is conditional on the home state reciprocating with Georgia.
