Montana uses a common biennial expiration date (July 15 of even-numbered years) for all electrical licenses, rather than individual anniversary dates. The Master Electrician pathway uniquely accepts an electrical engineering degree with only 2,000 hours of practical experience as an alternative to the standard 8,000 journeyman hours. Montana has no formal state apprentice registration system. Reciprocity covers Journeyman and Residential levels (13 states) but explicitly excludes Master Electrician.
