Vermont regulates dental hygienists through the Office of Professional Regulation under the Secretary of State, rather than a standalone dental board. All 18 CE hours must be clinical (no practice management credits). Emergency office procedures training is required at both initial licensure and every renewal (minimum 2 hours). The $245 biennial renewal fee is notably higher than many states. Dental hygienists with 3 years of experience can practice in schools and institutions under a general supervision agreement where the dentist is not physically present but must review all records.
