Texas licensing is handled by the Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), which consolidated several licensing boards in 2019. Texas requires a state-specific Jurisprudence Examination ($39) in addition to the ASWB exam at all license levels. Texas mandates human trafficking CE and requires LCSW-S (Supervisor) designation for supervisors. Texas is NOT a member of the Social Work Licensure Compact. Texas has the LMSW-AP (Advanced Practitioner) designation. Supervision plan must be submitted within 30 days (TAC §781.402). Relatively low renewal fees ($86-$106).
