Connecticut accepts out-of-state cna credentials
Out-of-state CNAs may apply under Route 7 (Reciprocity) by submitting proof of active certification and paying a $55 non-refundable fee; no exam required
These are the standard licensing steps in Connecticut. As a licensed cna from Massachusetts, you may already satisfy some of these requirements.
Complete a DPH-approved CNA training program (minimum 100 hours: 75 core + 25 behavioral management)
Complete online application through Prometric and pay $118 exam fee
Pass both the knowledge test (60 multiple-choice questions, 90-minute limit) and clinical skills evaluation (5 tasks)
Written, oral English, or oral Spanish formats available for the knowledge test
Prometric submits passing scores to DPH
Upon approval, be placed on the Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry; certificate mailed within 15 business days
Complete DPH-approved training, apply through Prometric (Route 1 – New CNA), pass written and practical exam, Prometric submits results, placed on CT Nurse Aide Registry
