Indiana accepts out-of-state cna credentials
Out-of-state CNAs with current active certification may apply for reciprocity; written exam required for all reciprocity applicants; 120-day provisional work period allowed while awaiting registry placement
These are the standard licensing steps in Indiana. As a licensed cna from Illinois, you may already satisfy some of these requirements.
Complete an ISDH-approved 105-hour Nurse Aide Training Program (30 hours classroom + 75 hours clinical)
Register for the Indiana Nurse Aide Competency Exam through Ivy Tech Community College ($100 for both written + skills)
Pass the computer-based written exam (100 multiple-choice questions, 80% passing score)
Pass the skills evaluation (hand hygiene + 4 randomly selected skills)
Both components must be passed within 3 attempts and 2 years of training completion
Upon passing, name is automatically placed on the Indiana Aides Registry
Timeline varies based on your credentials, reciprocity eligibility, and Indiana's current processing times. Contact the state licensing board for current estimates.
