Arizona has limited or no reciprocity
Arizona does not have reciprocity agreements for contractor licenses. However, the NASCLA Electrical Exam is accepted as an alternative to the AZ ROC trade exam, which may benefit applicants from other NASCLA-participating states.
These are the standard licensing steps in Arizona. As a licensed electrician from California, you may already satisfy some of these requirements.
Obtain background check through AccusourceHR for all persons named on the application
Pass the AZ ROC Trade Exam (or NASCLA Electrical Exam alternative) through PSI
Complete the AZ Statutes & Rules Training Course and Exam through Gmetrix
Submit license application with documentation of 4 years experience (ROC Experience Record Form)
Obtain contractor license bond (amount based on license type and work volume)
Pay application fee, license fee, and Recovery Fund assessment
Provide proof of workers' compensation insurance (if applicable)
Timeline varies based on your credentials, reciprocity eligibility, and Arizona's current processing times. Contact the state licensing board for current estimates.
