Pennsylvania accepts out-of-state cna credentials
Submit reciprocity application through Credentia Platform; must be in active and good standing on another state's Nurse Aide Registry
These are the standard licensing steps in Pennsylvania. As a licensed cna from New Jersey, you may already satisfy some of these requirements.
Complete a Pennsylvania Department of Education approved nurse aide training program (minimum 80 hours)
Obtain required background clearances (PA State Police, Child Abuse History, FBI if applicable)
Create an account on the Credentia platform and register for the exam
Pass both the written (or oral) knowledge test (70 questions) and the skills evaluation (5 tasks)
Upon passing, be placed on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry
Timeline varies based on your credentials, reciprocity eligibility, and Pennsylvania's current processing times. Contact the state licensing board for current estimates.
