Georgia accepts out-of-state cna credentials
Out-of-state CNAs may transfer certification if they hold active status in another state with no pending or substantiated abuse/neglect findings and can verify at least 8 hours of paid CNA work in the past 24 months
These are the standard licensing steps in Georgia. As a licensed cna from Florida, you may already satisfy some of these requirements.
Complete a Georgia-approved Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP, minimum 85 hours: 61 classroom/lab + 24 clinical)
Register for the NNAAP competency exam through Credentia and pay $130 exam fee
Pass both the knowledge test (70 questions, 120 minutes) and skills evaluation (5 tasks, 25 minutes)
Written, oral English, or oral Spanish formats available for the knowledge test
Upon passing, Credentia reports results to DCH; listing appears on the Georgia Nurse Aide Registry within 10 business days
Maintain active status by working at least 8 paid hours every 24 months and completing 12 hours of in-service training annually
Timeline varies based on your credentials, reciprocity eligibility, and Georgia's current processing times. Contact the state licensing board for current estimates.
