Illinois recently (August 2025) expanded the esthetician scope of practice to explicitly include hydrodermabrasion and dermaplaning for cosmetic purposes. CE hours include mandatory topics on domestic violence and sexual harassment.
Illinois requires 750 hours of esthetician training

As of August 2025, hydrodermabrasion and dermaplaning explicitly in scope of practice
Governor Pritzker signed SB 2154 on August 1, 2025, adding hydrodermabrasion and dermaplaning to esthetician scope of practice. As of May 30, 2025, IDFPR issued statewide variance allowing ALL CE hours to be completed fully online (previously half had to be in-person). CE requirement: 10 hours per 2-year cycle, including 1 hr domestic violence awareness + 1 hr sexual harassment prevention. Exam is written only (no practical) via Continental Testing Services.
